In order to have longterm, consistent retention of breeding records, BLU has contracted the services of ASR (Associated Sheep Registries). Please read the instructions below, fill out all appropriate forms for sheep registrations and transfers, and send them to:

Make all checks or money orders payable to BLU; please do not send cash. You may also pay by credit card. Credit card is the preferred method for our Canadian members in order to avoid assessed banking fees.

How to Register and Transfer Sheep
First, it is necessary to print out and read our Rules for Registration. This will explain all of our rules and procedures for registration and transfers.
Below is a list of forms you will need. Click on the PDF links to print out the necessary forms and mail to ASR at the address above (or printed at the top of each form). It is important to fill out and include ASR’s WORK ORDER for all transactions; this form lets ASR know what work you need completed, and includes a schedule of fees.
Procedures
To Register sheep you will need:

- Application for Registration form
To Transfer sheep you will need:
- Rules for Registration
- Work Order
- Pedigree(s) of sheep being transferred
Please note: You can register and transfer a sheep at the same time. Both the registration fee and the transfer fee must be paid at that time.
To Register sheep born of a sire that you did not own (borrowed or leased ram) you will need:

- Certificate of Breeding form
- Application for Registration form
To Register sheep born from artificial insemination you will need:
- Rules for Registration – BLU requirements for registration
- Work Order
- Certificate of Artificial Insemination Breeding
- Application for Registration form
To register ram semen imported from another country you will need:
- Rules for Registration – BLU requirements for registration
- Work Order
- Imported Semen Registration Form
- Importation papers for semen (original copy of USDA Form 17-135)
Clarification
Work Order – Must accompany ALL work sent to ASR.
Application for Registration – Form to enter the information on sheep you wish to register. Refer to Rules for Registration before completing.
Certificate of Breeding – Must accompany registration form when you are registering sheep sired by a ram that you did not own at the time of breeding.
Certificate of Artificial Insemination Breeding – Certification that all artificial insemination procedures (including embryo transplant) are done in full compliance with USDA rules, and affidavit of technician doing the work.
Imported Semen Registration Form – Ram semen from another country, used to breed BFL ewes in the BLU Registry, must be registered with a ram name and affidavit of proper USDA protocols being met for that importation, in order to register lambs born of that semen.
