The BFL National Show is fast approaching! Since the hotels near the fairgrounds do not block rooms for groups, rooms are first come, first served. So if you have not already made reservations, be sure to do that soon! Here is an info sheet that gives dates, websites for the BSG and show venue, and contact info for the 2 hotels on site, as well as an RV park at the fairgrounds.

$50 fleece award available
This year, BLU will sponsor a $50 cash award to the first place BFL fleece at the Maryland Sheep & Wool Festival. Details will be in the MS&W festival catalog and entry form. So if you have been considering entering a fleece in the contest, this is the year to do it!

OFFF Show Report
Several BLU members enjoyed the Oregon Flock & Fiber Festival this past weekend in Canby, OR. Linda Campanario had the First Place Yearling Ewe in the White Wool Class, with Terra Mia Addie.
Terra Mia Caleb won Reserve Champion ram lamb in the white wool category for his breeder, Kat Bierkens.
Youth member Rhiannon Curley also exhibited. Both Kat and Karen Szewc of Liongate had vendor booths during the festival.

Reserve in Show!
BLU youth member Rhiannon Curley entered a single fleece in the open class wool show during the recent Deschutes county fair in Redmond, OR. It was from her new ram, Jehovah’s Cornerstone. The fleece placed champion in the BFL division, and then it took Reserve Grand Champion Fleece in the wool show.

Reports Kat Bierkens, owner of Terra Mia Bluefaced Leicesters: Wonderful Sheep Show day! Shady Oaks Hank, bred by Marybeth Bullington, won Grand Champion Ram and homebred Terra Mia Liza won Grand Champion Ewe lamb over all the other Open class sheep breeds at the Douglas County Fair in Oregon. “Hank”

Congratulations Charlie!
Our newest BLU youth member, Charlie O’Boyle, with his reserve champion ewe at the Allegany county fair in Maryland. Charlie was the winner of the YCP program yearling ewe, donated by Meredith Myers-Null during the recent Maryland Sheep & Wool festival. Charlie’s brother, William, is also a YCP recipient, having been awarded his yearling ewe last year. His ewe was donated by Pitchfork Ranch.
NORTH EAST YOUTH SHEEP SHOW results

2 BLU youth members showed at the 33rd NORTH EAST YOUTH SHEEP SHOW @ the Eastern States Exposition Fairgrounds, West Springfield, Massachusetts this weekend.
Ellora Chapin had champion AOB ram, and Iris LaRochelle showed the champion AOB ewe. Ellora also showed the 1st and 2nd place AOB JR ewe lambs.

The North East Youth Sheep Show is the third largest and longest running youth sheep show in the country. It is the premier all-breed junior show in the Northeast, attracting over 200 youth exhibitors and over 600 head of sheep, with 20+ breeds represented!
